Educating rural communities of El Salvador to thrive in the digital global economy

Video of Our Work

Our elementary school and adult workforce initiative launched in 2022. Our partner company, Grande Data Services, Inc. opened its doors in March of 2023. To date, we have provided education to 150 people in the region and created 23 jobs. Please watch this video to learn more about our impact.

Catalyzing the next generation of leaders

The Grande Center for Education and Economic Opportunity (Grande Center) in Chalatenango, El Salvador is a bilingual, technology focused education center for children and adults that is based on the values of social justice and long-term economic opportunity to build generational wealth and equity in rural El Salvador.

Historically, the population in Chalatenango has been excluded from their nation’s economic advancement which causes them to seek low skill and poorly paid work in the United States. Grande Center, through our school and workforce initiative, will create an economic ecosystem that will employ graduates of the program in technology careers that can be performed remotely for international companies based in the United States and elsewhere. Grande School provides children and young adults from the region the language and technical skills needed for employment in their home communities, which will stem the tide of migration and needless family separation.

Please join us to support economic transformation to this amazing and resilient community.

Rutilio Grande School

Grande Center launched Rutilio Grande School, a K-12 academy, in January 2022 in partnership with the Diocese of Chalatenango and local community leaders. Grande School accelerates learning by utilizing blended learning programs in the core skills of reading and mathematics. Grande School includes a comprehensive English program and 40% of daily instruction is in English which is part of the longer-term strategy to prepare Grande’s students to be competitive in an international job market where graduates can work in remote jobs in the technology sector.

Grande Workforce Initiative

Connecting adults to careers in tech. The goals of the Adult Education Center are to train cohorts of adults in short intervals for entry level tech jobs like data entry, data labeling, talent sourcing, Google Suite, and Spanish customer service reps. Upon completing certificates, our organization will help place adult residents into entry level placements to work remotely from El Salvador, helping to create a new industry in the area.

Grande Data Services, Inc.

Grande Data Services, Inc. is a corporation based in El Salvador that is independently owned and operated from the Grande organization. Grande Data Services completes contracted work for international clients in data labeling services. It will match a growing industry with a drastically under-employed region to provide high quality entry level tech jobs.

Graduates from the Workforce Initiative are then employed by Grande Data Services. Profit from this company will eventually be returned as a donation to Grande School and Workforce Initiative to create a self sustaining model of education and economic opportunity.

“Our strong values are at the center of our institution and contribute to the teaching-learning processes that will train citizens of tomorrow”

— Monsignor Oswaldo Escobar, Bishop of Chalatenango
